Student - Journal Entry 1

Dear Journal,     Well, my cousin has gone and fallen in love all over again. He forced me and Mercutio to go to the Capulet's annual party with him so he could see Rosaline. I tried to knock some sense into him but he can be so thick-headed sometimes! Well, would you believe that he has completely forgotten about Rosaline and fallen in love with Juliet! What is he thinking? She is the daughter of Lord and Lady Capulet, not to mention his sworn enemy! I'm not sure how this is going to end for the two of them but I could only imagine it will not be good. When Romeo falls in love there is just no talking to him. Juliet is a sweet girl, don't get me wrong but she's a CAPULET! I wish I could tell his father and mother what he is up to, but I could never betray his trust like that. After all, he's not only my cousin but my best friend, too.  Sincerely yours,  Benvolio

Modeled Journal Entry

Dear Journal,        I regret to inform you that my plan to woo and marry Rosaline did not work. I found out today that she doesn't love me back. I was feeling very sad and depressed about this when my good friend and cousin Benvolio convinced me to attend a party. While I was there I saw a beautiful girl, more beautiful than Rosaline. She goes by the name of Juliet. She has the most beautiful dark brown hair, and stunning brown eyes. I could get lost in her eyes for ages. I wish to speak to her more, but she is the daughter of my sworn enemy, the Capulets. I think I will go and see if I could find where she lives and speak to her. I must know more about this fair beauty called Juliet. I must see her face again!  Until we speak again dearest friend,  Romeo
